What’s tastier and cozier than sharing cookies with friends and neighbors? Join us at the bookshop to participate in a fun, traditional cookie swap. 

We will also be picking our favorite cookie – and that baker will receive a special $25 gift card for their delicious efforts. We will provide coffee and tea for the event. 

Details:
1) RSVP
2) Bring 2 dozen of your favorite cookie as well as the recipe to share. One dozen to sample, one dozen to swap!
3) Feel free to bring ribbons or boxes to package the goods – We will also supply some cookie bags and plates.
4) CELEBRATE!

It is the Seventh Annual Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day and we are ready to celebrate! 

We know how vital bookstores are to a dynamic community and how important reading and books are to children. This Saturday, take some time to celebrate with the rest of the world, and bring your child to enjoy a very special day at Spiral. 

Brian Biggs, local author/ illustrator and one of our favorite people, will joining us in the shop. He will be signing copies of his newest collection of books - the adorable Tinyville Town series. (A perfect gift for the kids in your life!) 

GATHER, SHOP, & GIVE:
Also, with every children’s book purchase on Sat. Dec. 3rd, we are donating a gently used children’s book to Cook-Wissahickon Elementary School. Buy a children’s book – Give a children’s book.

Join us for a family friendly event celebrating the publication of Tinyville Town, a new preschool series published by Abrams/Appleseed.
 
Meet Brian, take a tour of the town, and bring home a souvenir (plenty of signed copies will be available and a special gift if you purchase all three!). We’ll have refreshments for kids and adults but feel free to BYOB. Bring your kids, bring your friends, bring your friends’ kids.

How well do you know Philadelphia? Find out more about our nation’s first city from Lori Litchman, author of “A Philadelphia Story: Founders and Famous Families from the City of Brotherly Love”. 

Lori Litchman is a lifelong Pennsylvanian. She grew up near coal country in the Pocono Mountains before making Philadelphia her home. She writes about Philadelphia, nature and the environment, law, and social and urban issues. When she’s not writing, she is usually teaching English to non-native speakers.

Lori received her MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Goucher College. Her personal essays have been published in Philadelphia Reflections: Stories from the Delaware to the Schuylkill and the online literary magazine, The Fiddleback.

She has worked as a daily newspaper reporter for The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly. While there, she won first place in a statewide writing competition for her article hashing out the details of Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law. She has also published a variety of science and environmental pieces. Her work has appeared in national and local print and online publications.
